9th Annual Poetry Contest Results
The winners of this year’s poetry contest, who will be reading their award-winning poems as part of the 9th Annual Poetry Contest Awards Reading Day event on Sunday, April 7th, starting at 12 Noon in the Village Hall Court Room, are as follows:


First Prize: $150   George H. Northrup for “From the Neue Galerie through Central Park” – New Hyde Park, NY
Second Prize: $75   Wayne Mennecke for “Goddess” –  Bay Shore, NY
Third Prize: $50  Marvin Illman for “FLIPPING CARDS, SUMMER ‘53” – Woodmere, NY
Honorable Mention: Paula Camacho for “Eater of Stars and Shaper of Galaxies” – Farmingdale, NY

Honorable Mention: Mindy Ohringer for “My Son Will Go To Work” – Great Neck, NY   

The public is invited to join us in this celebration of Poetry Month and hear the readings of these award winning poets. Additionally, time permitting, the first six people who sign up will be invited to read one poem in the open mic section of the program.   • March Events & Important Dates To Remember 
    March 6th & 20th, Board of Trustees Meetings, Village Hall, 8 p.m., .
    March 10th, Daylight Saving Times Begins, Spring forward into spring! Don't forget to set your clocks ahead at 2 a.m. on the 9th. While we'll be losing an hour of sleep, we'll be gaining an extra hour of sunshine. The actual Springtime can't be far behind. 
  • March 15th, 9th Annual Poetry Contest Winners Announcement, Winners will be announced on the Village's website by 12 noon. Good luck to all those who entered!
  • March 17th, St. Patrick's Day, Historically celebrated to honor the patron saint of Ireland, St. Patrick, millions around the globe mark the occasion by celebrating the Irish heritage and culture.
  • March 19th, Village Elections, Village Hall, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., For more information regarding the Plaza's elections, please see the article above. 
  • March 20th, First day to purchase or renew your Garage Parking Permit in the two Garages (Plaza Center and Maple Drive) for 2nd Quarterly Permits are  $90 per quarter. 
  • March 20th, First Day of Spring, Here's to the first day of spring bringing warm sunny days and an end to those below freezing wind chills. Happy spring!
