May 1 & 15, Board of Trustees Meetings, Village Hall, 8 p.m., Visit our website (click here) for agendas.
May 12, Mother's Day, 'Mothers hold their children's hands for a short while, but their hearts forever,Today, on this second Sunday of May, we honor our number one cheerleader, that person who is there to cheer you on when you succeed and provide everlasting support when the times get tough; Mom.  Not that everyday shouldn't be treated as Mother's Day, but today, make the day a special day for the matriarch of the family. On behalf of the entire Village of Great Neck Plaza team, Happy Mother's Day!
May 27, Memorial Day, While many have Memorial Day circled on their calendar as the unofficial start of summer, the true meaning of Memorial Day is to remember and honor the brave men and women who have perished while serving in our country's armed forces. A practice first traced to Columbus, Georgia in 1866 following the Civil War in which the ladies of Columbus would lay flowers at the graves of those Confederate and Union soldiers lost in the war, the first state to officially recognize the holiday was New York in 1873. It wasn't until after World War I that the holiday evolved to honor Americans who died fighting in any war and not just the Civil War. **Please Note: In observance of the Memorial Day Holiday, Village Hall will be closed.**
May 27, Annual Great Neck Memorial Day Parade, Susquehanna Avenue & Middle Neck Road, 9:30 a.m., and concluding at the Village Green (Beach Road & Middle Neck Road), we salute and commemorate the men and women who lost their lives in the time of war.
