When:PLEASE TAKE NOTICE that the Board of Trustees of the Village of Great Neck Plaza invites bids for the removal and disposition of garbage, rubbish, recyclable materials and other waste products from the Village beginning May 1, 2022. The Village intends to award a contract for either a twelve-month period (i.e. from May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2023) or a period of twenty-four months (i.e. from May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2024) or a period of thirty-six months (i.e. from May 1, 2022 through April 30, 2025). The length of the contract will be at the Village’s sole and absolute discretion. After determination of the length of the contract the contract will be awarded to the lowest responsible bidder which provides the lowest average monthly bid when averaged over the entire length of the contract.
Information for bidders, proposal, bid bond requirements and contract forms may be obtained from the Village Clerk, 2 Gussack Plaza, Great Neck, New York beginning on Tuesday, February 22, 2022. All bid proposals must be on the official forms obtained from the Village Clerk as aforesaid.
All bids must be sealed, clearly marked “REFUSE BID”, and submitted to the Village Clerk at 2 Gussack Plaza, Great Neck, New York on or before 11:00 AM, Wednesday, March 9, 2022 (no later) at which time all bids so received will be publicly opened and read by the Village Clerk.
Each proposal must be accompanied by a certified check, equal to 5% of the bid for the first twelve-month period or a bond with sufficient sureties in a similar amount, conditional that if the bidder’s proposal is accepted, he will enter into a contract for such work and that it will furnish a performance bond with good and sufficient sureties and in form satisfactory to the Village Board of trustees equal to the total sum specified in the bid documents.
If the bidder whose proposal is accepted shall fail to enter into the required contract, or shall fail to furnish such bond within 21 days after the proposal shall have been accepted, then the aforesaid certified check shall be forfeited as liquidated damages, or alternatively the bid bond proceeds shall be so retained.
The Village reserves the right to award either a 12-month contract or a 24-month contract or a 36-month contract and to award the contract to the lowest responsible bidder (as specified above) able to furnish the necessary security. Further, the Village reserves the right to reject any or all bids.
Bidders must present proof of their familiarity and experience with this type of work. Failure to present such proof or evidence that the bidder has performed satisfactory work of similar type in other communities will be cause for rejecting the bid.
The contract will be awarded as soon as possible after all bids have been examined and checked.
