- William R. Grace moved to Great Neck in the late 1800s, investing heavily in real estate and various businesses, including The Great Neck Trust Company, now the home of Citibank, on Middle Neck Road. His wife was Lillius R. Grace, a native of Thomaston, Maine, for whom the village of Thomaston was named. Grace was mayor of New York City from 1881-82.
